He (or is it she) wanted to hear from other users about their favorite utilities. Well, here are mine. HP3000 users are well aware that HP does NOT supply a full screen editor with their system. The line oriented editor QUAD from the user's group is a better editor but still not a full screen editor. (QUAD was written by Jim Kramer, himself an HP employee!) I have heard people rave about another editor called QEDIT from Robelle Consulting Ltd. However, we do not have it here, so I cannot give you any first hand impressions. Reportedly, HP has a full screen editor called ED that they use in-house. Maybe you can get a copy. If you are heavily into database applications with IMAGE or TurboIMAGE, I suggest you get a copy of the book The IMAGE/3000 Handbook. Also, you might want to consider some kind of database tool that lets you go in and do all sorts of good things. Around here we have a product called DBGENERAL. Believe me, it has pulled my butt out of the fire more than once! HP also sells a similar product as does a company called Adager. However, I have never used either of them. I can mention two things that allow you to monitor the system. These are OPT/3000 from HP and TSOO from the user's group. (Actually TSOO is one of a family of programs. First came OVERLORD which begat Son Of Overlord (SOO) which begat TSOO [among others]). That's all I can think of for now. I too would be glad to here from others on this subject. DISCLAIMER: The above are my opinions only. I have no interest in any of the products mentioned above nor any of the companies. The above statements come from me and not my employer. Oh, yes. The 1988 International Users Conference is being held May 30 through June 3 in Goteborg, Sweden. jja, if you can go, do so. I went to my first conference In Las Vegas, Nevada last September. You can learn quite a lot just talking to other users. I plan on going to the one in Orlando Florida next August if my boss will let me! -- Charlie Dennett | UUCP: ...!rutgers!rochester!kodak!dennett Eastman Kodak Company | Voice: 716-726-4480 901 Elmgrove Road | Company Mail: Dept 420 Technical Support Services Rochester, NY 14650 | Company DECnet: VXMM01::DENNETT
