One thing you should worry about if you're going to get a new motherboard is
slots.  If you've got an old PC in which the case only had 5 slots, their
spacing is 1", and an 8-slot XT motherboard's spacing is .8", so you won't be
able to use any of your expansion cards with the new motherboard unless you
get a new case.  You'll need to either get a new case with your new motherboard
or get a 5-slot motherboard.
