Is there a way >to get around it, after the download is done? > This sort of thing seems to be a common problem as I have seen reports of similar behavior with Red Ryder 10.3 running under MultiFinder. The difficulty occurs when you download a file to a folder that is open on the Desktop. MultiFinder apparently does not correctly attach the attributes to a file that is created in this manner (via a download using a term program) and hence you get the generic icon, etc. The solution for Red Ryder (and I assume other term programs) is to make sure that the folder that your new file will be downloaded to is closed when you see it on the Desktop. You should then find the file in "normal shape" (and function) when you go to use it. I fear that I do not know how to recover files that have the problem that you have noted. Perhaps someone else...
