In regard to someone who asks about cleaning up the desktop without
losing all of the "Get Info" comments...

Alsoft publishes a program called DiskExpress which will do that for
you quite well.  It also will optimize your disk, scan it for defects
(and slices and dices and ... never mind :-) ).

Try it out.
