No amount of adjustment of the various pots, etc. inside improved anything (the Horiz. Osc. adjustment made the same kind of anomaly in a horizontal direction if it was put out of sorts). The Xerox (BSG) repair people have said this is not an unusual failure, and that they only replace complete displays (at a mere $1805.65), rather than actually repair them. Of course, the machine is not on any type of hardware maintenance contract, and is nearing the end of its useful life here, anyway, so we can't afford to spend major money on it. If I could track down a schematic, we'd have a chance of letting a technician here play with the thing, but I've had no luck so far in finding one. If you've got a spare monitor lying around (hah!) we might be willing to take it off your hands at a reasonable price. Otherwise, we'll just have to part out the old monitor and it's CPU to keep our other three machines running a little while longer. So, I'm open to suggestions from others who may have been through this, either for repairing the old monitor, finding a reasonably priced replacement, a schematic, or whatever. Thanks....
