It seems like most systems (3Bs, UTS) support the "s_state" field. The fsstat(1) program determines if the FS (super-block) needs to be fsck'ed by using the "s_state". This facility prevents wasted fsck'ing if a file system is "clean". Can the "s_state" be implemented in Sys V.2 or is there plans to include this in a future DEC release ? (currently I am using VAX-11/780 with DEC UDA50 2.2 and AT&T Unix V.2 paging) History: Did AT&T implement this strategy on the 3B-line first ? -- Tom Dineen ..!packard!tomd
