I just compiled news 2.11 software on a 3b2/500 running system V 
release 3.1.1.  I don't think that I have any 2.11 patches applied.  
Everything but vnews works fine.  Vnews just paints up the first 2
or 3 lines and then every key that is hit repaints those lines.

Does anybody know a solution to this?
