The Feb. 1988 issue (#136) of Dr. Dobb's Journal has an article on the
PC as an RS-232 analyzer.  It includes source (Turbo Pascal) and a
schematic for a "tap" into the circuit.  It appears to be fairly
easily extensible if it doesn't address one's particular analysis
requirements.
