Correction to my Re: alist help for an elisp beginner Message-ID: <18059@topaz.rutgers.edu> Date: 14 Feb 88 05:41:47 GMT References: <276@ho7cad.ATT.COM> <18055@topaz.rutgers.edu> Organization: Rutgers Univ., New Brunswick, N.J. Lines: 20 Hey, it looks like I hit the wrong key again! Dang, I hate when that happens, I meant to r(espond). Regardless, I wouldn't bothered with this message if I hadn't rushed out the last one so quickly that I made an erronious diagnosis. I corrected myself via mail to the original poster, but now I find that I must correct myself on the net also. Text beyond the "As to your problem that you posted," line is fairly bogus. Since my own defvar of file-name-abbreviation-alist is `list'ed and not quoted, I assumed the poster's was also, hence the quest for another possible trouble. Also, the first comment in the .emacs portion is misleading. I originally played around with soft and hard links with this stuff, and then said, "Aw, #$%! it.". Should read, ;; Byte-compile ~/.emacs.elc if necessary, then load it. My humbled apologies, [Ag]
