Keywords: TCP-IP VAX BI Intelligent Node Processor Message-ID: <4581@ecsvax.UUCP> Date: 8 Feb 88 20:53:52 GMT Organization: UNC Educational Computing Service Lines: 20 Are there any companies producing "intelligent" TCP-IP communications boards for BI-bus VAXen? By `intelligent TCP-IP communications board,' I mean something like the Bridge Communications IVECS or Micom NPxxx boards: these beasts have their own ethernet interface, and microprocessor and memory, and handle TCP-IP, TELNET and FTP protocols on the board, freeing up the VAX from the overhead of managing the communications protocol. All t he boards of this type with which I am familiar are Q-bus or UNIBUS boards. We have no interest in retrofitting our 8530 with a UBA, and want to know if there is anyone out there who makes a BI-bus version of such a product. Thanx in advance.
