The IMP was number 1 on the ARPANET (UCLA); the host was an IBM 3033 mainframe; the IMP interface was the ACC IF/370 using an 1822 VDH connection. We commonly saw 45-48 kbits/sec doing FTP's between two different hosts via the UCLA IMP; the source was generally a VAX runnning LOCUS in Computer Science, and the sink was the aforementioned 3033 (Computer Science sure loved the cheap, fast printing available on the mainframe!).
