A fairly extensive set of calculations were published in the Proceedings of the 1972 Fall Joint Computer Conference in a paper by McQuillan, Crowther, Cosell, Walden, and Heart (all of BBN) titled "Improvements in the design and performance of the ARPA network" on pages 741-754.
