Console cooked device (CON:). Serial port cooked device (AUX:). Parallel port cooked device. Modem cooked device. Screen cooked device :-) Anyway, you get the idea. Can't we do somethin' EXPANDABLE? Solution. Create a COOK: device. When you open it, it uses the parameter as the name of another device to open and cook. For example, opening the "COOK:RAW:" device would be exactly the same as opening the "CON:" device. Opening the "COOK:SER:" device would be the same as opening the "AUX:" device, which may or may not be present in every system. Opening the "COOK:PAR:" device would cook the parallel port.
