I myself own an Amiga 1000. The 2000 will give you full IBM PC/XT compatibility in a hardware package. As for the availability of terminal emulators there are several. There is a PD vt100 emulator that works fine with the CMS environment of IBM mainframes. Also Online! works as vt100 emulator for use in the CMS environment. I have used both with no problem connect to our IBM mainframes at Univ. of MD. As with any decision to buy hardware, decide on the type of software you want to run then get hardware to run it. Amiga: 1. 2000 with bridge card - IBM PC standards - dbase III+, Lotus, ect.... 2. WordProcessing - WordPerfect, numerous others I haven't tried 3. Telecommunications - Online!, PD vt100 emulators, there are at least a half dozen others available 4. Databases - Superbase - haven't tried this one but I hear it's good 5. Languages - Aztec C, Lattice C, Modula2, ARexx, AmigaBasic ... 6. Games - Electronic Arts and many other publishers too numerous to name. I recommend scanning this newgroup for software reviews. - Jim Duncan
