There can be up to 16 palletes for each Super-Hires Screen. In 320 mode, you can have 16 colors per pallette. Each line on the screen can use any of the 16 pallettes, giving the possibility of 256 colors on the screen at any on time, but only 16 on any one of the 200 vertical rasters.
