When you have a situation where the BIOS can't detect (for sure) if the media has been changed or not. For instance, if you have a write-protected disk in the drive, and the drive has been idle for over a second or so, the state changes to "Maybe". You can still yank out a non-write-protected disk and put it back in the drive. So the "Maybe" state really reflects the fact that the BIOS hasn't had a chance to match disk serial numbers yet. -Landon -- I speak for me.
