Optical Char Recognizers Message-ID: <2750@sfsup.UUCP> Date: 4 Feb 88 15:24:21 GMT Organization: AT&T-IS, Summit N.J. USA Lines: 29 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Hi! Does any one in Netland have any information for me regarding *CHEAP* (is it possible ?!) Optical Character Recognizers that can be hooked up to an Amiga or (Forgive me !) the I-machine? I need to be able to read hieroglyphics (sp?) off a written page and convert them into displayable characters onscreen. In other words, I want to be able to reproduce the page on the screen after understanding what I'm going to display on the screen. This device would accept a downloaded map that described the characters of interest. Upon finding a pattern match, it would signal the host processor with some code describing the character it found, and where on the page it found it. Am I making sense, or should I go burrow somewhere? Thanks in advance for any ideas you guys may have about this. Saify Lanewala ..ihnp4!attunix!stl
