Is there a way to expand it's ->memory? The following seems to constitute a "no," but you might find it useful anyway. Laser Connection (a QMS spinoff) is advertising a PostScript board for the LaserJet and other one-lung printers based on the Canon CX engine. They do *not* advertise RAM expansions for such machines, as they do for other Laser printers, which would seem to imply that they're not advertising such expansions because they don't make them, and they don't make them because they're either impossible or impractical. Still, the Laser Connection product might be useful to you: having a vorpal and standard Page Description Language might solve more of your problems than more memory. Depends, of course, on what you do with the printer. If this limitation is true, it's bad news for me. The CX engine is a very reliable product. Its physical design makes it unpopular in a serious production environment (did Canon do a quickie adaptation of its "personal copiers" to get into the market quickly?) but is tolerable when you're a one-person shop with a hatred of mechanical printers. So I was hoping to get a used CX-based printer for cheap from someone who was tired of recollating long documents and upgrading it to fit my future needs (which I'm still not sure about). Now I'll have to think carefully: how badly to I need printer with a decent amount of RAM? Laser Connections information line is 800-523-2696; according to the ad it's just to help you locate a dealer and order a free catalog.
