The fix either came from (or was attributed to) Larry Dziegielewski (eplrx7!lad, if I'm not mistaken). He suggested moving the video card to the opposite extreme slot. Supposedly, this results in a marginal reduction in fan noise. I haven't tried this myself. With the noise my disk drives make, I don't believe I'd notice the difference.
