My dealer installed the video card next to the power supply.  Try
moving it away from the power supply, towards the middle of the
machine, in slot 6 instead of slot 1, I believe.

I did this to my Mac II and it didn't help much.  I wish some third
party would make a QUIET Mac II fan.  A quiet fan is worth $50 to me.
My Mac II can easily drown out a GE F-100 jet engine.....
