I haven't tried the patch out, but I think that it shouldn't matter what depth your screen it, you should be able to use the patch for the 1-bit case and the program will work the same. Since Risk doesn't know anything about color pixmaps, any offscreen bitmaps will be 1-bit deep regardless of the screen depth. >OK.
