Running UNIX without protected mode is a lose. You just can't multitask well in that architecture. Second, there are at least two versions of UNIX out that will run on a 386 in 386 mode. The one I am most familiar with is the Intel (Interactive Systems) System V for the 80386 which seems to be a perfectly good UNIX as system V's go. Sun also has their new "roadrunner" product that run's Sun OS (a hybrid BSD UNIX). -Ron
