I have an NEC 8401 laptop CP/M machine for $150 + shipping:
	6 pounds (w/ batteries)
	16x80 screen (old tech, not supertwist)
	64K non-volatile CMOS RAM
		usually split 32K ram-disk, 32K TPA
		will work as 64K machine if you buy a disk/ram-disk
	excellent keyboard
	Wordstar, calcstar, telcom, filecard programs in ROM
		Vt100, Soroq emulation in ROM
	still supported by NEC (peripherals, etc.)

I made the "5-nicad" alteration to this machine which charges up nicads
in the machine and adds about 50% to Nicad life (4 hours -> 6 hours).
This mod can be easily undone, but is really worth it.

I used this as a writing pad, loading files up and down to my PC.
Great fun.  I now own a fancier and more expensive laptop.
The RAM is non-volatile, so you can turn it on and off all you like 
without disturbing your work.
