If it's on an Appleshare volume, and you have access to the folder that it resides in then you can execute it directly off the server. But if you can see it to execute it, then you can copy it also. Just as a rule of thumb, anything you can do on a local hard drive can be done over appleshare with no changes to the source code of the application. The only thing appleshare changes is that it provides folder {read sub-directory} level protection of files.
