I'm looking for the source for RVD (Remote Virtual Disk) which
was developed at MIT a while back.

RVD allows PC's on ethernet to share Read-only disks on Unix
or other systems. The 'disks' are implemented as files on the
servers.

If anyone knows where I can find the source for this, or a similar
item please let me know.

I am familiar with PC- NFS, and that is much more than I need.

I need something Public domain that I can alter to suit our
sites needs. Messy or incomplete code would probably be
acceptable.
