I recently was informed of the existance of the "netlib server", a program which responds to requests sent to it via e-mail. The program maintains a database of a wide variety of sources for various numerically-oriented packages (such as linpack), and some other odds and ends. For those interested, send e-mail to "netlib@anl-mcs.arpa". Send a message containing the line "send index" to the server. I'm not sure of other paths to the machine -- sorry. Having said this, I would like to know if there are other similar facilities available on usenet. I do know about this thing called the lyrics server "lyrics@umass.bitnet", which maintains a database of song lyrics by author and/or album title. Send a message containing the single word "help" to the formentioned address for more. Are there other such things out there? Is there a list of addresses and cescriptions of purpose available somewhere? -- -- Rich (rich@eddie.mit.edu). The circle is open, but unbroken. Merry meet, merry part, and merry meet again.
