I am sure that I will have to buy at least one more drive now. I was thinking about a hard drive anyway, so it's not too big a deal. But, here's the problem. Using my own 3.5 disk for MS-DOS and not having a 5.25 drive for it is okay for DOS. But, the situation is less than satisfactory for ProDos. As expected, Diversi-Cache, that I dream about, no longer operates. I'm going to ask Bill Basham for an update if it's possible. But, the larger problem is that the Finder no longer is able to poll the 3.5 drive to determine that a disk has been removed and swapped. Thus, I cannot use that drive anymore from the Finder. I have yet to check whether ProSel will do the trick correctly. Moreover, you cannot boot from the drive since drive 1 is the 768K Ram Disk. I, and anyone who has a large Rom/Ram boot disk, would greatly appreciate some enterprising individual's efforts to create a boot from slot 5, drive 2 program. Can't be too tough. I wrote my own in Dos 3.3 a couple of years ago, but that's a far cry from ProDos 16, and the MLI. Finally, to be directed to Ted Medin, the download function in Kermit apparently tries to activate the slot in some unkosher way since when I attempt to download to /ramaepc, it gives me the "UNABLE TO BOOT" message and fries the screen.
