I once built a link using 2 joystick ports and the handshaking lines off the 
serial port and we got 180Kbits/second out of it!  it was real easy, in 
fact, I wrote a device driver for it and we could transfer files.  I also was
working on a multi-player trek game in Action! for it.
     Unfortunately, I no longer have my 800, but I will look for the stuff if
you want it.
