Word is fantastic (ver. 4.0). Having worked at MS, I had a lot of exposure to Word, so much that I prefer to use it on PC-Ditto rather than running one of the ST's WPs. Word is so far advanced it's mindblowing. It has laser printer support (actually, hundreds of printers are supported). You can run it in text mode (including 43 line EGA) or in hi-res to get a WYSIWYG display. Unlike Word Imperfect, you can format any word or character at any time. You can select from dozens of fonts, and a feature called Style Sheets makes it a joke to use. You create these "styles" and give them a 2 character name, like SO for "stand out" or PT for "paragraph title" etc. Each style defines the character format, font, paragraph margins, etc. You type in a paragraph, and press Alt and the 2 letters, and the whole paragraph gets reformatted. To change the paragraph to a different style, just press Alt and some other style letters. The beauty of this is that if you decide that a certain style should change, say, paragraph titles should be in a different font, all yo do is reformat the style (maybe 5 keystrokes) and the entire document will get reformatted. FANTASTIC!!! Also, there is macro support. Store you favorite sequence of keystrokes in a macro. Plus, Word can directly import spreadsheet data from Multiplan, Lotus, and Excel. The latest issue of PC Magazine, ranks Word 4.0 as #1 (out of 55 tested) and Word Imperfect as #4. Plus, Word is cheaper. Did I mention the box and lineoptions. Draw lines and boxes around words and paragraphs in any of a dozen line styles. Or stick them in style sheets. Full upward and downward compatibility with Word 3.0 files. I could rant on and on about Word. Run, don't walk to your local dealer and buy it today! - Darek CI$: 73657,2714 GEnie: DAREKM BIX: darekm
