Second, you can execute the program from anywhere - try using an installed application if your .prg and .rsc are on another partition on the hard disk from the application (There is a way of getting around this). RSC files take more space and load time than when they are merged. Some programs maintain two large .rsc files, one for monochrome, one for color, when only a few parts have to be duplicated.
