Deron (author of PP) uses his own scheme for the screen and printer fonts and has done a very good job. In PP, one can have say 6 different fonts loaded, and each font can be used from around 5 pt size to 144 pt size. All these take up about 30 K of RAM only. Try that with GDOS (which practically requires a different file to be loaded for each size) and you will need a Mega64 ST just to load all these fonts!! The new PP Professional may be using an even better font scheme (and the old ones are supposedly upward compatible). Since a few people have asked me, the upgrade from Publishing Partner 1.?? to Publishing Partner Pro is $55 (include handling/shipping) -- .., the Gods won't mind.
