I am posting this for a friend of mine who's having dialout problems on
a Vax 8200 running Ultrix 1.2 (BSD 4.2).
 
He's using a DMF32 controller and hayes 1200 modems with the switches and 
acucap entry set as follows:

# switches = uuddduud (u=up, d=down)
hayes|h1200|smartmodem|smartmodem 1200(Touch tone):si:db:\
        :hu:re:ss=+++ATH\rATZ\r\n:sr=OK:sd#250000:di=ATDT:\
        :dt=\r:dd#50000:fd#40:rs=,:os=CONNECT:ds=+++ATH\rATZ\r\n:db

If there's anyone out there who's willing to help solve his problem, please
