If it has its own BIOS ROM, chances are good that you can get into the formatting program similarly to how other boards work. For complete safety, don't try this with a disk drive that has contents that must be retained. Go into debug and execute c800:005. If that doesn't work, execute c800:ccc. If that doesn't work, try c800:006. If you still have no success, dis-assemble the code at c800:000 and onward and look for a handy entry point. If there's nothing there at all, it's a dumb controller and you may need additional software.
