I diagnosed it as a buffer failure of a very unusual sort... Flow control was broken, data was being lost, and apparently the printer was losing track of its printhead location. After failing to fix one of these printers four times, a local (N.Y.C.) dealer replaced the buffer stuff and it worked fine. I've had this problem with ImageWriter I's, II's, and the old wide-carriage model. I don't know if this problem is exactly the same as those reported recently on the net, but it seems likely. I can receive mail at the address in the header, but I can only send to BITNET addresses, so if you mail me, don't expect much in the way of a reply... abr1@cunixc.columbia.edu -- Don Lanini User Services
