Source : US form PA. I think you may have old information. I'm pretty sure that last year "(c)" was declared invalid. Or, since you are quoting a US form, that maybe it is allowed in the US, but not internationally (since the US never signed the appropriate international copyright treaty, our rules differ). Internationally, only a "c" in a circle (and a pair of parentheses is NOT the same thing as a circle) and/or the word "copyright" can be used, and both of these are also valid in the US.
