Please tell us what you think would be Anyone who can answer this article with a firm response that ??? is better then *** is not worth listening to. Both operating systems have there place, and until you can indicate what purpose you will use them for, all you will receive is useless flamage..... Here at Utah, we run both, we do heavy number crunching with load balancing on our vaxcluster using VMS since we feel it is better for that type of situation, and for the robotic control efforts we use Unix boxes. And yes they both talk to each other just fine, and people work on both just fine and I here just as many complaints of the 'why doesn't unix keep multiple versions' type as of the 'why doesn't vms have good filters'. First define what you want to accomplish over the next several years - is it teaching? cs research? production activities?..... THEN repost your question. -ed Manager, Computer Services Center for Engineering Design Univ of Utah cetron@cs.utah.edu
