It is attitudes like your's that turn many potential Hams away from the hobby. All of the terms that Patrick used are acceptable in everyday conversation and are heard on the ham bands daily. Had he been writing a term paper or thesis, then the flames would be vaild, but this group is informal (remember REC.ham-radio ?).
