The assistant will be required to assist students/registrants when they "fall behind" the instructor. These are introductory level classes with generally inexperienced computer users as students/registrants. The courses are highly stuctured under the direction of the instructor. There will be an on-going need for classroom assistants. Courses currently scheduled are MS-DOS basic and intermediate, and Word Processing basic and intermediate (using WordPerfect). Classes are three hours in length and the classroom assistant will be required for a period before each class to set up and for a period after the class to close up. Class times are five Mondays 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm; five Wednesdays 8:30 am to 11:30 am and 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm; five Fridays 9:00 am to 12:00 noon; five Saturdays 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. The assistant fee is $35.00 per session (and can be paid on a consulting basis, without source deductions, if desired). We would be happy to have a "pool" of assistants to call on for our computer classes. The Law Society has a 20 PC computer lab on a Starlan network served by an AT&T 3B2/400 minicomputer. Familiarity with Unix and MS-DOS applications would be of value, but assistants will be provided with basic training in specific applications if necessary.
