The observation that's always been quoted to me, and seems to have some basis in fact, is: Good computers don't sell. Of course, there are so many bad computers out there that this observation could be an artifact of the random probability of any computer succeeding. :-) Less cynically, it seems pretty clear to me that name brands consistently win out over fads.
