    This is in response to Klaus's note posted on 3 Mar 88.

    I tried the same scenario and could not reproduce the problem.  The
    record was properly fetched by VAX DBMS with the same query.

    I tried it on VAX DBMS v3.3 with VMS v4.5.  Maybe Klaus is having an
    older version of VAX DBMS.
