The most common symptom seems to be that in getting 512,000 byte chunks of X.V11R2, the first byte of the last packet of the transfer doesn't make it, leaving the aspiring FTP-getter with 511,999 bytes. Another popular problem is to get the correct number of bytes, but for the checksum to come out wrong. People all over the place with several sorts of machines have observed this problem with expo.lcs.mit.edu, and we may be seeing a similar problem with prep.ai.mit.edu now, too. I haven't heard any good suggestions yet, except to just keep trying until you get a good copy.
