Although EDIF may very well have some shortcomings, it does provide all or most of the features everyone would like to see in an electronic design interchange format (what's in a name?). One way to get the CAD market to support EDIF is to create a demand for it. Many examples of how this has worked can be cited. Open standards win over proprietary "standards" again and again. HPGL, Spice, MacWhatever, etc. or a hybrid just doesn't fit the bill. I think it's worth the pain now. Let's try to do it right the first time. Steve
