Well, simply put, rutgers is one of those places that runs a rerouting mailer. In general it works pretty well, and it's convienient dump just about any kind of garbage address on rutgers and have a 95%+ chance of it going somewhere useful. On the other hand I can see how some pathological cases could cause a lot of frustration. Of course, if your mail didn't include any paths through rutgers in the first place, there must be at least one other miscreant in the works.
