When reading this discussion on USENET, I am seeing almost everything
twice.  First, I get the original article, then it comes encapsulated
in a digest a day or two later.  

Methinks there is something wrong with the gateway philosophy here. 
Either there should be no digests, or there should be no direct
postings.  But not both, please.
