Summary: Trying to determine age of PET


Does anybody out there have a way to determine the age of an old CBM PET?
I recently came accross one in near-perfect condition and would like more
details.

The unit is the type with the "calculator-style" keyboard in QWERTY layout.
It has 8Kb memory and a cassette deck built in. The label on the back
states:		Commodore
		2001-8 C
		SN# 0630733

The front label is black and silver and states: Commodore 2001 series
Personal Electronic Transactor. I have some old books and articles from '79
and they all show a colored label on the front bearing the incscription
Commodore 2001 Personal Computer. Based on that I think it may be a pre-'79
model, but I'm not too sure. If so, this is one of the first Personal-
Computers I can recall ever seeing! (Well, like the first anyhow !-)

P.S. - I ran the "print peek(50003)" test and got a 0. This means it has
the "old" ROMs. Any idea *how* old?
PS - I'd be interested in a source for reprints of old articles on this
machine!
