All you have to do is plunk down your $500 for your Windows Developer's Kit, another $400 (or whatever) for your MS-C compiler, ask Microsoft for the nondisclosure agreement to get a Device Driver Kit, send it back in, and you'll get back some docs and about 8 disks full of sample device driver sources. This is sufficient to write a device driver for either a screen or a printer.
