Sorry to beat a dead horse, but...

Can anyone tell me how to tell when DOS is busy, I know about 'INT 0x28'
to see if the disk is busy, but is there a way to tell it is safe
to call non-disk DOS functions, multi-tasking sort of stuff???

I tried going through PRINT.COM to figure that out and it seemed to be more
of a chore than I had time for...
