If you find Chris, find out why we continue to get an X on dimmer once the
machine has been set to 2 bit mode and you reboot. the cdev works, ie you can
use it but dimmer does nothing (ie it does not dim anymore) sure are a lot of
ie's in this message. Setting the monitor back to 256/color has no effect the
dimmer icon at bootup still has an X thru it. Any ideas?
