The picture that you use as your backdrop is stored in RAM as part of the system, thus wasting a chunk of the precious stuff. This may not be a problem for B&W pictures on an SE (small) screen, but I had a color backdrop for the MAC II which took up about 300K .... Not nice when you only have 1MB!!
