I can't speak for NS but if you (or anyone else) are willing to look
at other (faster) processors, you should call our literature
department and ask for an information package on the 29000.  Then if
you have any interesting ideas, perhaps we could do something.  Send
me mail! 

(I suppose this doesn't really belong in the NS group but we don't
have an amd group and we do pay our share of phone bills for USENET.)
